Scope of Services:

Review, evaluate, install, implement and maintain institutional Microsoft SQL Server databases. Maintenance to include performance tuning of all production Microsoft SQL Server databases. Identify data sources, provide data flow diagrams and document the processes. Write and maintain code for database access including stored procedures. Primarily responsible for the maintenance of an in-house database. Additional responsibilities for the maintenance and support of other SQL server databases. These databases are critical to the operation of the department.
Duties include: Developing logical data models:  Define entities; design entity keys; and design attribute domain integrity.  Implementing physical databases:  Create and alter databases; create and alter database objects; alter database objects to support replication and partitioned views; and troubleshoot failed object creation.  Retrieving and modifying data:  Import and export data; manipulate heterogeneous data; retrieve, filter, group, summarize and modify data by using Transact-SQL; manage result sets by using cursors and Transact-SQL; and extract data in XML format.
Programming business logic:  Manage data manipulation by using stored procedures, transactions, triggers, user-defined functions, and views; enforce procedural business logic by using stored procedures, transactions, triggers, user-defined functions, and views; and troubleshoot and optimize programming objects.
Tuning and optimizing data access:  Analyze the query execution plan; capture, analyze, and replay SQL Profiler traces; create and implement indexing strategies; and monitor and troubleshoot database activity.
Designing database security plans:  Control data access by using stored procedures, triggers, user-defined functions, and views; define object-level security including column-level permissions by using grant, revoke, and deny; and create and manage application roles.
